Preston's haircut

Just after my birthday, Brandon informed me that he needed a hair cut. So after dinner, I had him sit down in the bathroom so I could cut his hair. I have been doing it for most of our marriage and have gotten quite proficient at it. I am able to to do the "steps" and everything. After his hair cut, Preston wanted one too, which was totally fine with me since he needed one too. I really haven't been able to get an actual picture of him getting his hair cut since the first 2 times we BOTH had to hold him so he would sit still enough for me or Brandon to cut it. The first time his hair was cut, it was actually just a trim and I had my friend Cyndi do it for me. It was really a quick job since it was really hard for us to get him to sit still, but it was enough. Anyway, since this time around he wanted to get his hair cut, I wasn't going to pass up a golden opportunity. He climbed right up into the chair and sat still for me,  I had Brandon grab the camera for me and take a video.  So it's just the last few minutes of him getting his hair cut, but he did such a good job sitting their for me and it turned out great!!

Preston taking his first steps

This is the day of his birthday, January 8, 2010, after everyone had gone home. We went downstairs to play with his new toys. He was still having a blast with the punching balloons. Here are his first few steps!!

Preston is ONE YEAR OLD

(So I have been a little busy the last 6 months, and I am just getting back into things. Hoping to completely update my blog. Stay posted.)
We had a birthday party with just the family for Mr. P on January 8th, his Birthday. I can hardly believe that a year has gone by since I gave birth to my little man. But he is such a joy. I love him and can't get enough of him. He is such a boy!! With Lillian she took a little longer with some of her motor skills, like most girls do. Preston on the other hand is so different. If the activity involves being active, then he has it down. One of his absolute favorite things to play with are balls. Doesn't matter the size, he loves them and he has quite the throwing arm. About a month or little more before he turned one, he discovered balls and now you can't take them from him. He will throw a ball to you and then you throw it back and he will go and get it. He just loves chasing after the ball. Anyway, we gathered mine and Brandon's siblings and parents together to enjoy cake, ice cream and of course presents. Preston wasn't quite sure what to make of the nicely decorated bags and boxes, but he sure did enjoy them once they were opened. He got some much needed clothes and some really fun toys. My parents got Lillian a little something too, so she wouldn't feel left out. They got her those punching balloons that you blow up and have a long rubber band attached to it. As it turns out both the kids loved them. I think Preston might have enjoyed them a little more. He was more interested in playing with the balloon then anything else including have his cake!! So when we put him in his high chair for cake he was a little upset. Thankfully once he saw it he changed his mind. Albertsons made the cakes, one for  Mr. P and then a bigger one for us. His cake was actually included because it was a 1st birthday cake order. I thought that was pretty cool. I had originally just planed on giving him the top layer on the cake, (see pic.).  Needless to say we had LOTS of cake leftover. LOL. Everyone had a good time, especially the kids. Sorry for the picture overload, but it was his first birthday!! ;)

"Okay mommy it's a nice box, so what!!! Lets move onto something more interesting."

Getting the hang of opening presents.
Super heros t-shirt from Aunt Heather and Uncle Jared.
Einstein baby video's from Aunt Heather and Uncle Jared.
The punching balloons!!! She was excited too!!

I think the bow was more interesting than the box... LOL
 "Ohhh there's something in here...cool"

"what's all this white paper for, lets get to the good stuff"

 Ooooo Mommy open it, PLEASE!!!

books from Grandma and Grandpa Case. yeah!!! (and money for his mission account too)

Preston trying out his new ball toy.
I fell in love with this cake. I thought it was so stinkin cute even though it was way more than we needed.

The infamous punching balloons, that were more interesting than the cake!!!

"Where are my balloons!!!!! I don't want my birthday cake!!!" My poor sad baby, life's so hard!! :)
Still not happy about the balloons being taken away. Singing Happy Birthday to him anyway.
I believe Lillian helped him blow out his candle....LOL Oh well, maybe next time.
"oh okay...if you are going to actually give me the whole cake, maybe I will give it a try!"

 "Mmmmmm this IS really good!!!"

Yes I know it's huge...That was the baby's cake!! Can you believe it!?!?

 "Okay back to the balloons"
Grandma and Grandpa....the bringers of the punching balloons. Hahaha!!! Well as it turns out it was a good thing because that night after everyone had left Preston took his first steps holding onto the balloons and he never stopped!!! Happy Birthday my little Prestonman!!!!

My good eater!

So my little guy is a really good eater. There isn't too much he won't eat. I love it!!! He is so completely different from the way Lillian is. Anyway, he is a "I want to feed myself" kind of boy. It is very rare when he will let me feed him. Once he figured out how what those little chubby things were for there was no stopping him. LOL!! Anyway, here he is enjoying his spaghetti and smiling for me!! He is so stinkin cute!! (Okay I know I am a "little" partial, but can you blame me) :) (October 26, 2009)

Preston!!

Just a quick post on my little boy!! He is getting to be so big. I can hardly believe he is 9 months.
We went to his 9 month check up (awhile ago) and he is doing great.
My little guy is so squirmy and well it got up with him. On Weds. Sept. 23rd he rolled off the counter in the bathroom (he had just gotten a diaper change) at my parents house. My mom had reached over to grab Lillian forgetting that Preston is so squirmy and just barely missed him. My mom called me at work to tell me what had happened and that he wasn't acting normal. Thankfully Brandon was almost off work so he was able to check on him and make sure it wasn't serious. When I stopped to pick up the kids a couple hours later, I felt there was something definitely wrong with his one leg since he would scream every time I tried to touch or move it. So after a very fun and exciting ER visit complete with x-rays it was determined that he had a buckle fracture in his left femur. They put a soft cast on it there and I scheduled an appt. with an ortho to put the hard cast on Friday morning. We are grateful the break wasn't in his growth plate and that it wasn't displaced. Mommy decided on a blue cast. He only had to wear the cast for 2 weeks. Thank goodness babies grow fast!!
Thankfully he had gotten his cast off the day before so I have an accurate weight. Although he had lost 7 ounces from the time 2 weeks before in ER. But the doctor said that was normal because he had been dragging that thing around where ever he crawled.
Anyway, he weighed 19lbs 14 ounces and was 28 1/2 inches long. Still in the 50%!!!
Don't remember what his head measurements were and they didn't write them on my sheet. But that was in the 50% too.
Preston loves food. I can feed him anything and he will eat it. It is so nice not having a picky eater (one's enough). He loves to crawl around and pull himself up on anything he can reach. He absolutely loves his sister and drives her nuts too. But that's what little brothers do (at least that's what I remember mine doing) LOL!! Lillian loves him too, though but we're still working on the whole sharing thing. Some days are better than others. Preston (or Mr. P) has we call him is going to be my little mischievous child. He puts everything and anything he can find in his mouth. The word NO I think means smile and look as cute as possible so mom will change her mind and then just keep right on doing it. We have found, so far, a red crayon, paper, tissues, the cat's water bowl and their scratch toy, plastic bags, any kind of cord, Lillian's books, and the diaper champ. There are days I feel like I don't have enough places to put all the things he can't play with. But we love him anyway. He is such a happy baby and brings so much joy to our family. He loves to be in our arms and snuggles a little with mommy!
Standing up in his crib!! This is after we lowered the crib all the way!! At least he can't fall out!! LOL
My little guys pretending to use the binkie. He would rather play with it then use it for what it is suppose to be for (and yes I know it's pink it is one of the ones we bought for Lillian but never used.)Waiting to get his cast off!!
Cutting through!!
We all signed his cast, Lillian had a little help from mommy. I wrote "Mommy is the best."

I think it is so crazy that this machine just stops when it touches the skin. Amazing!!!
All done!! "Yeah, I got my leg back, mommy!!!" He started moving it around as soon as the cast came off!! He was so happy!!!
