Lillian's Birthday with Family

We invited all of our family over to our new home to celebrate Lillian's 4th Birthday!! We had spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and of course cake and ice cream. I made a yellow cake with apple cinnamon filling and a yummy cream cheese spice frosting. It was so good and everyone really enjoyed it. Lillian really enjoyed seeing all her family. Grandma and Grandpa Case, Grandma Anne and Grandpa Mickelsen, Aunt Debbie, Uncle John, Sammie and Nikki, Uncle Jared and Aunt Heather, baby Adam, Uncle Scott and Aunt Jen all came to Lillian's party. Lillian hadn't seen Gpa and Gma Case in awhile so she was really excited to see them and Uncle Scott and Aunt Jen whom she is always excited to see.
Lillian really loved opening all her presents and the new toys, etc were great too. She got some money for her savings account, bath bubbles and some books with sticker sheets from Gma and Gpa Case. She loves stickers!! A turtle night light and toy skillet with food in it from my parents. She was so excited for her night light and so were we. She had been having a hard time adjusting to sleeping in her own room away from Mommy and Daddy.  Several times she would come into our room and sleep on the floor next to our bed or behind our bed. It was frustrating for us but we knew that she had been used to being in the same room with us for almost 4 years so understandably she was having a hard time. We fell in love with the nightlights from http://cloudb.com/ and we knew it was what we were looking for.  Now Lillian sleeps through the night without any problems, such a relief. Aunt Dunie (Diane) wasn't able to be there because she had to work, but she gave Lillian several coloring and learning books. Aunt Jen and Uncle Scott gave her some adorable bracelets and contributed to the night light and food skillet. Aunt Debbie and Uncle John gave her this cute little white dog that came in a pink carrier with a comb, leash,  pink "water" bowl,  clothe bone, and "poop."  Both her and Preston loved it. Go figure, my kids love animals especially kitties and dogs. She got a cute little princess book that was narrated by Uncle Jared and Aunt Heather with a little help from Adam. Such a clever idea, and Lillian listened to it over and over again for the next few days. Lillian really loved all her new toys, books and having her family here to celebrate with her.

We gave her the new Tinker Bell and Vidia dolls from Tinker Bell and the Great Escape movie. She was so excited!!

Lillian is 4!!

I can't believe Lillian is 4 already! She is getting to be such a big girl. It seems like not that long ago she was still my "baby doll." Now, if I try calling her my baby, I get told that she is NOT a baby!! Oh well!!
Lillian has grown so much over the last year. She knows her ABC's and can count up to 10 without help, usually. She is a good helper around the house, (most of the time) and she adores her brother. I love to see them laughing, and playing together.  Her birthday was on a Thursday and I decided to make her favorite, macaroni and cheese. Afterwards, it was time for presents of course. I snapped a couple of pictures of her but the rest is on a video. We also got Preston a couple of presents since we knew he wouldn't understand why Lillian was getting new toys and he wasn't.
Lillian was so excited the whole day for her birthday, and hated having to wait all day for it. I think in the end it was worth the wait. She loved dinner, of course, and had so much fun opening and playing with her birthday gifts.
Lillian loves books and always wants us to read to her. Some books she has heard so much that she will often sit down and "read" it to herself or Preston. It is so cute. She also likes Barbie dolls, all the princesses, all the Tinker Bell fairies and Strawberry Shortcake. With a little help from my mom, I was able to bring home my old Barbie dolls and house, a kitchen stove with lots of dishes and my Strawberry Shortcake dolls and gazebo. She LOVED them!! To her they are brand new, and aren't 20+ years old!! Thank goodness they made toys better then!! LOL Since she has her own room now, she is really loving having all these new toys and the space to play with them.
Lillian continues to be a finicky eater. But we have been able to get her to try a few new things with some a little bribery. I can only hope that as she gets older she will get better about trying new things and the finickiness will go away.
My little girl brings such joy and laughter to our family and we are so blessed to have her. She has her own little personality which continues to develop. However, she takes after her mommy in so many things, I can only imagine what she will be like as a teenager. I think I will be getting a dose of my own medicine. LOL!! Anyway, we all had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday and look forward to many more.

 Oooo...animals!!!
"Daddy hurry up an open it!!!"

He loves his Noah's Ark toy. He and Lillian both loved playing with it that day.
He really enjoys playing with the Fisher Price little people and animals.

Preston is 18 months

I can't believe how fast it has gone by, but my little boy is 18 months!!! He has been such a joy to have. He loves to cuddle (but only on his terms), play with balls and balloons and with his big sister. He adores his Daddy and Mommy and loves to give us gives and hugs. He also enjoys having stories read to him or looking at them himself. He can also say quite a lot of words, so his talking skills are moving right along. Sometimes we aren't sure what he is trying to say, but we get most of it. LOL One of the biggest challenges he overcame this summer was his fear of the bath tub/swimming pool. Now that we have bath tubs AND since Lillian loves taking baths, we decided to try Preston in them. Bad idea!! He hated it and cried the whole time even with us holding on to him. He would cling to the side of the bath tub. We kept trying though, often. We spent quite a few afternoons over at Brandon's brother's apt, where there is a pool, to cool off. Preston didn't like it one bit. He would cry and cry. Brandon kept at it though, and with a little help from his cousin Johnathan he stopped crying and started laughing. Brandon had taken him into the sauna, not on of course, and Johnathan had started splashing and making bubbles. Well he liked it and after a few minutes wanted out and walked over to me in the pool. He wanted to come in! Yeah!! I picked him up and held him in my arms and he splashed. Now, he loves the pool. As for the bath tub, we would put him in and start splashing and he would forget about his fear. At Lillian's birthday party, my parents got him some fun cups for the bath tub and along with big plastic cup from Del Taco he loves taking a bath. He runs to the bathroom when we tell him it's bath time. Phew, we are definitely relieved. :-D

As for his regular Dr. check up, everything went fine. He weighed 26lbs 11oz and was 32 1/2" long. According to the Dr. he is average and been there the whole time which is perfectly fine with me. He go 2 shots this time also. He did great as usual. He still cries for a couple of minutes but he settles down pretty quickly.

My little guy, Prestonman, as we sometimes call him got his first real hair cut around this time too. (I also like to call him my little blonde boy, hehehe.)  Sadly no pictures, since it took both of us to do it. I have been cutting Brandon's hair for years so we didn't see the need to have it done professionally. It turned out adorable!! He looks so handsome with his new hair cut. I do, however, have a picture of his new hair cut!!

Preston loves to play with Lillian, no matter what she is playing with; fairies, kitchen, barbie dolls, even her doll he likes to hold and carry around. One time he even went to bed with it. He cracks me up!! But we know he just adores her so much. Of course it does annoy Lillian at times but they do get along most of time. I have really loved to find them sitting quietly reading stories together. I think it's so wonderful that they can get along so well.

We have discovered that he is also very ticklish on his upper chest, under his chin. He has the cutest laugh!! Brandon and I get a real kick out of tickling him!! Another thing he loves, is his shoes. Whenever we call him to put them on, he comes running. He is so excited to put them on. I think it makes him feel like a big boy. Of course the converse being he doesn't really like having to take them off. LOL  He is also a great little helper. Picking up toys, helping mommy taking and putting the laundry in the machines, etc. It is so nice to have such a good little helper, of course sometimes it's too much but oh well. Preston has turned into quite the good little eater. There isn't too much that he won't eat, completely opposite Lillian. He even likes salad, so long as we put dressing on it. It is so nice to have a good eater around. LOL. He even likes watching me make dinner, so cute. He will sit on his bar chair at our island counter and watch me chop, mix, whatever. I think it's so cute!! I know it's probably because he's hungry and he knows that I am making food to eat. I am sure once he is a little older he will enjoy helping me make the food!
He also loves silverware and has become quite efficient at using the spoon and fork. Of course there is always room for improvement, but at his age he does much better than Lillian did at the same age. Going along the same lines, Lillian has a little kitchen set, complete with all kinds of silverware. So we will find, quite often, him wandering around caring one of these little objects. Trying to get him to relinquish said silverware is always a delight!!........NOT!!
Before we moved into our new house, Preston learned he could climb up the slide at Grandma and Grandpa Case's house. He has watched Lillian do it for so long and wasn't brave enough to do it. He still, loves to swing. In fact it's quite hard to get him out of it. He would swing for hours if you let him. Anyway, once he learned how to climb the stairs on the slide, there was no stopping him. I took a video of him climbing up and sliding down. So cute!!

Like most kids he does have a few bad habits, which we are working on to contain. He has picked up his sister's habit of saying uh uh (no) whenever we have to discipline or try to get him to do something. Not a big deal, but still annoying!! LOL. Preston also thinks that crying will help get him what he wants, usually involving Lillian and something she has done. Preston thinks that he can do whatever Lillian is doing, having, etc. At times it is quite hilarious to watch and other times........not so much. No matter what, we love our little guy and know that eventually he will learn/grow out these little habits and come up with new ones. LOL

My little guy has decided to continue in his Daddy's footsteps!! He is shy!! Subsequently, he sticks close to the people he knows and sees on a regular basis. He loves his both of grandparents and his cousin's, but as for the rest of the family he is a little more reserved. Although he is getting better with some one of them. Hopefully he will grow out of this phase. Nursery has been a little bit of a challenge too. Since we are in a new ward, it hasn't help either. He loves to play with all the toys, but most of the time one of us has to stay with him. There have been a couple times where he has stayed in there without us, but the majority of the time, he starts crying and becomes quite upset. The nursery is quite large and I have tried to leave him and just let the nursery leader try to settle him down. But after 15 minutes with no change, she brings him to me.  I only wish that he would play with the other kids there, but he doesn't. He seems a little drawn to one of the girls but she isn't interested in playing with him, probably because her only other sibling is an older sister Lillian's age. So now what am I to do? There are plenty of boys in his class, some a little older some a little younger, but he won't play with any of them. I know if he would make a friend, he would be more comfortable in nursery and we might not have to stay. Hopefully soon we will make some progress!!

"Run, Run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me I am the Prestonman!!" Pretty much sums up his last talent. He loves to run, (and dance for that matter too). Hence, the adoring name of Prestonman. We love you!!!

Why I have been absent from blogging!!

This is what I have been doing for the past several months and why I haven't been able to blog as much!! Thankfully we are all moved in and unpacked!! We love our new home!! It was worth the waiting period while it was being built. We were able to make some design decisions and love how they have turned out. We are living in Riverside County about 30 minutes from my parents. Brandon's brother and his wife and family are about 10 minutes away so we still have family close to us. It has been nice. The kids have really enjoyed being able to spend more time with their cousins this summer.  Anyway, sorry for the picture overload but it's the only way to see the house. ;)
